Assignment Title: Recipe Costing Assignment

 

What I learned: In this assignment, I learned how to take a recipe for a slice of pizza and purchase the products that were required to make the slice of pizza. I had to calculate the cost per ingredient and then find the total cost for each ingredient in the pizza.

 

Reflection to the assignment: This assignment helped me realize some tasks that I will encounter during my rotations at the dietetic internship. There are many components to foodservice and being able to order the proper ingredients and figuring out the price is crucial.


Relevance to the profession: As a dietitian, it is important to understand all aspects of nutrition, including foodservice. As a dietitian, I may be asked to help order products for a recipe for a hospital and it is important that I understand how to order the correct amounts with the budget that is given.
