Assignment Title: Enteral Calculations
What I learned: In this assignment, I learned how to properly do enteral nutrition calculations. I learned how to take a list of formulas and calculate the the volume, calories, protein, and water in the formula. I also learned how to make flushes according to the formula and the caloric needs.
Reflection to the assignment: This assignment was difficult at the beginning, since the calculations were brand new. However, after consistently working at it, they became simple and made sense. These calculations are crucial to understand and I learned how to do a variety of these calculations.
Relevance to the profession: As a clinical dietitian, these formulas will always be present. It is important to be able to not only understand how to do these calculations, but also how to do them efficiently. Being able to adjust calculations based on a patient’s needs is very important in the profession and these calculations helped to show how simple and also how complex the calculations may be.
